The war broke out and the absurd system plunged ordinary people into chaos. Tabloid reporter He Jiashu, drafted doctor Salma, renegade soldier Charlie Feng, technology geek Kazuki Suzuki and other characters from different backgrounds were involved in the torrent of artillery fire and exile. They hold different ideals, beliefs and desires, and use self-mockery and humor to resolve the difficulties amidst the torment of power and the tricks of fate, and overcome the difficulties with friendship and goodwill amidst absurdity and cruelty. Their respective growth and struggles are intertwined into a broad narrative: from the outspoken tabloid writer to the fearless activist, from the doctor who stopped the bleeding of his comrades to the fighter who led the anti-war wave, everyone shouldered the challenge of change and upheld peace, justice and dignity amidst the embers of gunfire. Spanning three volumes, the protagonists shuttle between trenches, refuges, negotiation tables, and ruins, digging deep into the abyss of the system and making fun of themselves as a team—ultimately growing into a spark of hope to change the troubled world, using wisdom and emotion to write an epic of "ants".
