Polar Equity: The Cat-and-Mouse Edition

In the year 5000, as Earth’s population surpasses 700 billion and crisis looms, the federal government and a corporate consortium sign the Millennium Accord. Officially, they are developing the polar regions to save humanity, but their real aim is to carry out the Ark Project, abandoning the vast majority of people. While investigating, the gifted analyst Lin Xuanxing gradually discovers that what is being built beneath the ice is actually an engine for an interstellar escape. He joins forces with Ling Shuang, a security director of mysterious origins who is in fact an undercover member of the resistance group Fire of Dawn. As they expose the betrayal of the federal speaker and the corporations’ schemes, their differing ideals ultimately drive them apart: Ling Shuang chooses to seize the data and arm a revolution, while Lin Xuanxing insists on revealing the truth to awaken the public. When the Ark Project is exposed, the federation collapses and corporations carve up the territories. Carrying the “seed” data Ling Shuang gave her life to transmit, Lin Xuanxing establishes a new outpost in the polar wastes of a fallen civilization, keeping watch over humanity’s long night with reason and conscience, and redefining the future.
