In the desolate Dongguo Salt Flats of Longxing, the lonely old chef Hu took in a lost mother and son on a snowy New Year's Eve. He noticed that their behavior was abnormal but did not point it out and treated them with kindness. The woman was grateful for his kindness and confessed that she was a fox fairy. Her husband was killed by the young master of the salt flat. She came here to ask for help and recognized the old man as her godfather. In order to repay his kindness, the Fox Fairy gave him a mound of magical leeks, which grow in salt-alkali lumps and are not afraid of severe cold and come back to life after being cut.
