Synopsis

"Dipping Heaven Essence" is a classic work of ancient Chinese numerology. It is said to have been written by Liu Bowen in the Ming Dynasty and detailedly annotated by Ren Tieqiao in the Qing Dynasty. The book is divided into two volumes, with "Theosophy" as the core, and systematically expounds the essentials of numerology such as the heavenly stems and earthly branches, the five elements, and the coordination of patterns. The content covers many aspects such as the way of heaven, the way of earth, the way of humanity, knowing destiny, regulating qi, and coordination. The structure is rigorous and the discussion is subtle. This book takes "Three Yuans" as the foundation, emphasizes the value of "neutralization", opposes dryness and chaos, advocates the decline and prosperity of the sun, and the use of gods, joys and taboos as the basis for determining destiny, and criticizes the fallacy of abusing gods and evil spirits and strange patterns in the numerology circles at that time. Ren Tieqiao's annotations cited extensive references, combined with a large number of actual fortune-telling examples, to analyze the mysteries of numerology in a simple and easy-to-understand manner, making the originally obscure numerology theory clear and easy to understand.
