Lin Wei, a modern-day career elite, dies suddenly after working for 48 hours straight. When she wakes up, she has become Shen Qingxian, a disposable supporting character in an old-school angst novel. In the original story, Shen Qingxian becomes a concubine for love, suffers at the hands of the scumbag male lead and his scheming female lead, and eventually dies miserably in the street.
As a modern woman, she decisively abandons the original plot and the scumbag, and instead picks up Xie Wujiu, the future villain who will turn dark. The two join forces: one prepares for the imperial exams, the other builds a business, and together they reach the pinnacle of success.
