Five hundred years after the success of learning the scriptures, the order in heaven and Lingshan has become rigid, and all spirits in the lower world have been unfairly suppressed in the name of "destiny". A resentment (the remnant soul of the King of Inspiration) that was not completely eliminated on the way to seek scriptures gathered the resentment of all the demons that were "eradicated" by Sun Wukong and others, and turned into the "Ten Thousand Resentment Demons". It did not take revenge directly, but quietly sneaked into the three realms, creating a "mirror of cause and effect", forcing the scripture-seeking team to face the past they least wanted to look back on: the unknown tragedy and injustice behind the monsters they "acted for heaven".
Master Tang Seng and his disciples must embark on a journey again, but this time the purpose is not to learn scriptures, but to "make up for it." While uncovering the buried truths, they also began to question the fairness of "Destiny", and finally found their own, true path to "save all sentient beings" amid the injustice of heaven and the revenge of demons.
