Reborn as a Temple on a Hilltop

What’s it like to die and not go to heaven or hell, but become a dilapidated, unwanted temple?

Thanks for asking.

A big truck had just taken me out. When I opened my eyes again, I found I’d become a temple, with drafts coming in from every side and cracks running through the statue of the deity.

Just as I thought I’d spend the rest of my days here weathering away, a little girl with pigtails showed up carrying three crooked sticks of incense. She became my only believer.

At that very moment, a chime rang in my head:

[Ding! Gained 1 incense offering. Awakened the Plants vs. Zombies: Master of Heavenly Secrets System!]

[Starter Pack: 1 Sunflower Spirit Field, 1 Peashooter Talisman Turret]

Before I could figure out what was going on, a zombie horde erupted down the mountain.

A sea of black zombies was charging toward my little believer.

How could a dilapidated temple that couldn’t even move protect her?

I gazed at the faint glow from the “sunflowers” newly planted in the courtyard, and the “peashooter” spitting glowing pellets at the zombies, and fell into deep thought.

It seemed… my temple was a little different?
