Moon in Chains: The Empress's Captive Husband

In the final years of the Dayin Dynasty, the lords carved up the realm. Princess Xiao Jinzhao seized the throne with an iron fist, becoming the first empress in history and ruling with absolute power.

She kept only one man imprisoned: Xie Tingyuan, a nobleman from the former dynasty. Once peerlessly elegant, he is now gravely wounded and on the brink of death, his gaze cold and his lips sealed. Reduced to a live-in consort in the palace, he is forced to become her husband.

She is a ruthless, obsessive tyrant who forces him to become her empress; he is aloof and abstinent, and would rather die than submit. Political schemes surge, and undercurrents swirl.

She uses the realm as her game board, keeping him trapped deep in the palace; he plots through memorials, drawing the flames of war to the borders.

When their true and false identities are revealed and the mystery of the twins unfolds, she leads an army thousands of miles to save him beneath the city gates.

At last, as he falls, he takes her into his arms. “It’s over.”

She is a mad empress; he is a wounded immortal fallen from the heavens. In this game of life and death, whoever falls in love first will be destroyed.
