Lingshan Group Ltd. is facing an unprecedented crisis.
To break through a growth bottleneck and secure a new round of “Heavenly Dao financing,” the group’s CEO, the Tathagata, overruled all objections and launched an S-rank strategic project codenamed “Journey to the West.” The goal: successfully bring the core product, “Mahayana Buddhism,” to the Southern Jambudvipa market, achieve exponential growth in user data (believers), and ultimately turn a profit!
But this seemingly glamorous project is actually a hot potato. Heavenly Court Group wants a piece of the action, Underworld Holdings is secretly throwing up roadblocks, and even the staff in Lingshan Company’s own marketing department are taking kickbacks.
The project team is an industry oddity through and through:
· Project Manager: Tang Sanzang. A well-connected hire parachuted in from Lingshan, he is highly capable. His greatest achievement was leading four “rehabilitation” subjects to complete the project.
· Sun Wukong, a technical specialist. After starting his own business, he learned the ropes at another company and became an executive at Heavenly Court Group. He was imprisoned at Five-Finger Mountain Prison for drunken misconduct, property damage, and other offenses.
· Zhu Bajie, the team clown and former CEO of Heavenly Court’s “Celestial River Navy.” He was fired for molesting someone while drunk.
· Sha Wujing, a master of slacking off and former personal bodyguard to Heavenly Court Group’s boss. After smashing the boss’s private antique collection, he was “optimized” indefinitely to the Flowing Sand River branch, where he was actually assigned to sabotage Lingshan’s project.
· The West Sea Dragon King’s third son, the driver. He was reported to the authorities and sent to prison by his own father for setting fire to the pearl in the palace hall, supposedly over a family equity dispute.
And so, the project team set off!
This is an unconventional take on Journey to the West. Why not give it a read?
