Chronicles of Strange Earth Vein Events
Yin Veins conceal coffins, and folk customs serve as locks. Chen Xun, a folk geomancer burdened by a family curse, loses a piece of his memory every time he touches an ancient relic. Yet he has no choice but to embark on a journey to find the tokens of the geomancers. Only by gathering all five can he break the curse and prevent the Yin Vein energy from spiraling out of control.
He joins forces with Su Nuo, a PhD in folklore; Zhao Chuang, a retired combat engineer; and Lao Gui, a veteran of the archaeology world. Together, they venture deep into the key Yin Vein sites of western Hunan, including Nuo tombs, witch tombs in Qin and Jin, and underwater tombs in Wu and Yue. Here, illusions in Nuo opera conceal contracts of life and death, witchcraft mazes teem with bloodthirsty traps, and underwater tombs churn with temporal rifts. The key to solving these mechanisms is never brute force, but a precise understanding of lost folk customs: chanting ancient incantations, recreating sacrificial rites, and identifying ritual texts written in local dialects.
The international organization Black Abyss closes in at every turn. Using technology to alter folk customs and control supernatural artifacts, they seek to restart the ancient Project Vein Control and bring the world under their command. As the team faces trials of life and death, they overcome a crisis of trust. Chen Xun pieces together his family's mission from fragments of memory, Su Nuo leaves the academic study for the field, and Zhao Chuang finds redemption in his unwavering devotion to his comrades.
When all five tokens are brought together at a Buddhist tomb in the Western Regions, the seal on the core of the Earth Veins is on the verge of breaking. Chen Xun must face not only the fanatical antagonist Xuan Zhu, but also reconcile with the lingering soul of his father. This battle to protect the Earth Veins, spanning a thousand years, will finally reach its ultimate conclusion through the wisdom of folk customs and the bonds of blood.
