Lin Chong, an instructor of the imperial guards in Tokyo, was a peerless spearman, upright and incorruptible. A pillar of the court, he was framed by Grand Commandant Gao Qiu.
The unjust White Tiger Hall case tore his family apart and saw him sentenced to exile in Cangzhou. He narrowly escaped an assassination attempt along the way, saved by Lu Zhishen.
On a snowy night, he slew his enemy in a rage, saw through the corruption of the officialdom, and resolutely embarked on the path of resistance. He joined Liangshan, fought across the land, and eventually became a leader of the rebel army.
Rejecting the imperial amnesty, he founded Great Chu and led his army north against the Liao and Jin, south to quell rebellions, and west to destroy Western Xia.
He spent his life protecting the people, yet died with one regret: “I failed to drive out every last barbarian.” Wherever his iron spear pointed, the realm was restored.
