Delivery rider Gu Xing's "echo mole" briefly exchanges consciousness with a "body of the same name" in a high-power parallel city at midnight every day. He uses this to rise in both cities at the same time, but is involved in a "sacrificial city merger" conspiracy jointly organized by the consortium and the sect. In the end, he must stop the annexation of the two cities at the cost of memory.
