After three months out of work, Chen Xinghe has become Qingting Bay's Murky Pool's infamous "skunked fisherman." Eighteen straight days without a catch, a secondhand fiberglass rod in hand, he faces ridicule from fellow anglers and contempt from rich kid Zhao Kai. Even making ends meet has become a struggle. Then one day, he unexpectedly hooks a giant black carp, the first one seen in Murky Pool in years, and discovers that his battered fishing rod hides a secret. Press the totem on its handle, and he can awaken mysterious abilities: a warm current that boosts his strength, sharper vision, and even a map showing where fish are gathered and predictions of water temperature and conditions.
