The Countryside Supermarket

I Connect the Past and Present as a Shopkeeper

Chen Ye, a corporate drone who was laid off, returns to his hometown with a mortgage hanging over him and takes over the run-down convenience store his grandfather left behind. On top of that, the village bully gives him a hard time and the villagers mock him. Just when he thinks his life has hit rock bottom, he discovers a secret hidden in the noodle shop’s wooden door late one night: from midnight to dawn, it can connect to ancient times!

He trades self-heating hot pot for ancient silver and earns his first fortune selling instant noodles, paying off his mortgage in the process. When he encounters refugees fleeing famine, he not only gives them food for free but also helps them through their hardships. This unexpectedly activates the copper abacus points System his grandfather left behind, unlocking the abilities to keep goods fresh and store them in a pocket dimension.

Later, once he earns enough points, he even connects to the era of the War of Resistance! Seeing soldiers short on food and warm clothes, Chen Ye immediately stocks up on grain and sends them winter coats and first-aid kits. From a mocked good-for-nothing to a shopkeeper who trades across time, and then an entrepreneur who builds a supermarket chain, Chen Ye uses kindness and cleverness to carve out a path to success between the past and present. He also stumbles upon clues about the future...
