Her sister was modern-minded, unmarried, and already had a child, so the family’s arranged marriage fell to Lou Cangyue. Just like that, she somehow became Mrs. Xie.

Xie Chenqing was the heir to one of Jingbei’s most powerful families: aloof, abstinent, and sternly old-fashioned.

He didn’t have many demands when it came to choosing a wife. She just needed to be sensible and not cause him trouble.

But when the Lou family came to him to honor the marriage agreement made years ago, he couldn’t help remembering the little girl in Paris years earlier, leaning on his shoulder and crying in quiet misery.

So he said, “I’ll agree to the marriage, but I’ll only marry Lou Cangyue.”

After they married, he realized he’d been wrong.

More than a sensible wife, he liked seeing her in his arms, eyes red as she pleaded with him.

“Hubby, help me out, please~”

Xie Chenqing, who always held himself to strict standards, came close to losing control every time, yet couldn’t get enough of it.

Later, Lou Cangyue accidentally discovered the depth of her sister’s love for Xie Chenqing. Mortified, she threw a divorce agreement at him.

“Let’s get divorced! I never want to see you again!”

Xie Chenqing pinched the bridge of his nose, pulled her onto his lap, and kissed her wildly until she couldn’t breathe.

“Cangyue, the only way you’re leaving me is as a widow.”

One day, Lou Cangyue suddenly remembered that someone had left on a business trip right after their wedding night. She was instantly aggrieved.

She kicked him out to the study. “Who leaves on a business trip right after their wedding night? You don’t even like me!”

Hugging a pillow, Xie Chenqing looked helpless. “And who was it that said she wanted to know what it was like to have a rich husband who never came home?”

Lou Cangyue: “...”

All my life, I’ve been trapped in the dark, with you.
