Redemption: An Encounter with the Black and White Impermanence

Meng Zhifan, a restorer of ancient books, awakens the bloodline of a Soul Guide after an unexpected surgery causes the mysterious copper coin on his chest to stir. He unexpectedly meets the Black and White Impermanence, Xie Bi'an and Fan Wujiu, and is drawn into a shocking conspiracy in the Underworld.

King Qin Guang is consumed by ambition. To ascend to the pinnacle of the Three Realms, he falsifies experimental data and massacres the Soul Guide clan, hoards the souls of the dead to nourish his dark arts, and plans to undergo a transformation by sacrificing ten thousand souls in a grand ritual.

Stripped of their divine offices, Xie Bi'an and Fan Wujiu flee alongside Meng Zhifan. They lie low in the ghost market, set ambushes in desperate situations, and join forces with allies such as the rebel official Zhao Shuo and the Day Wanderer, who has switched sides, to gather evidence of King Qin Guang’s crimes. From beating a drum to plead their case at the Cliff of Wangchuan to the final showdown in the Ten-Thousand-Soul Cavern, they pit mortal courage against divine might and use the desire to protect others to overcome evil. Meng Zhifan unlocks the secrets of his ancestral spirits and uses the Record of Soul Pacification to guide the souls home. In the end, he joins forces with the Great Emperor of Fengdu to thwart the conspiracy.

This adventure spanning the realms of yin and yang is filled with the sinister machinations of the Underworld and the brutality of life-and-death battles, as well as the profound brotherhood forged over a thousand years and a devotion that endures through life and death. When the twin-hearted flowers bloom across the Bridge of Helplessness and the mission to protect reincarnation continues, a legend of justice, redemption, and bonds draws to a gentle close in both worlds.
