A big-hearted, playful, pampered little fairy x a tyrant who says one thing and means another
Tangtang is a little fairy whose spiritual powers are unstable. While traveling with her unreliable master, Yunyou, she gets left behind and runs into Fu Yuan, the tyrant of the mortal realm, as he deals with corrupt officials in the woods. Startled, she loses control of her powers and reverts to her true form, a snow-white rabbit. Fu Yuan grabs her by the ears and carries her back to the palace.
The tyrant kills without mercy and trusts no one, yet he shows this rabbit a rare indulgence. He tucks her inside his robe while reading memorials, hides her in his sleeve during court, and even lets her sleep beside his bed. Until one day, Tangtang's powers return, and she turns back into a human on the imperial bed:
Her pink skirt flutters open, and the tyrant's sword tip comes to rest against her neck. “So the little rabbit... came to assassinate me?”
From then on, Tangtang spends her days being forced by the Imperial Tutor to practice writing and her nights under the tyrant's watchful eye to keep her from escaping. She blows up the imperial kitchen, draws rabbits on memorials, and steals lotus-seed pastries. She insists she's three hundred years old, but Fu Yuan always treats her like a child.
And when old friends from the immortal realm come to visit one after another, and Fu Yuan discovers that she has been secretly mending his dragon robe and using her spiritual power to ease his headaches, the tyrant finally begins to suspect that the little creature he brought home might really be an extraordinary little monster.
This is a heartwarming story of a playful little fairy and a tyrant who says one thing and means another, learning to tame each other within the high walls of the imperial palace.
