As eras turned over, ten thousand years passed in the blink of an eye.
The Heavenly Dao awakens and discovers that Blue Star's spiritual energy has run dry. In this Age of Declining Magic, it urgently needs the world's source energy to survive.
So it casually grabs a hapless guy who just died: Ye Yan.
Heavenly Dao: "Young man, the important task of saving the world is in your hands!"
Ye Yan stares at the world-ending mission panel before him and falls silent for three seconds. "That's too much to take on. I can't shoulder it."
Heavenly Dao: "?"
Ye Yan: "But I know seven billion professional fall guys: every prank-loving person on Blue Star. Is that enough?"
And so, the Fourth Calamity plan begins.
Ye Yan happily runs the numbers: he'll take a cut when players fight monsters, get a share when they mine, and when they do something suicidal... he'll record it and post it to his social feed.
Then the players arrive...
Faced with a terrifying wolf demon, someone shouts, "Sliding tackle for the win!" and gets blasted back to the respawn point by a wolf fart.
When confronted by an abyssal dragon, someone tries to exploit a map bug, using tons of explosives to blow up the dragon's pit.
During the counterattack against the undead calamity, the battlefield chat looks like this:
"Stop shoving, skeletons up front! My drone is livestreaming!"
"Does that Death Knight drop loot? If not, I'm switching sides to the Church of Light."
"Healer urgently needed for the Underworld Palace dungeon! Resurrection tokens included, plus a trial ticket for Granny Meng's soup!"
Final battle: Three hundred music students perform a remix of the Great Compassion Mantra on suonas, erhu, and chimes.
As the Lord of the Undead ascends to heaven, he weeps bitterly. "I've been a demon for eight thousand years... This is the first time I've seen people perform an electronic exorcism! You're the real demons!"
Meanwhile, Ye Yan's main daily tasks are deleting strategy posts titled How to Exploit Bugs to Marry the Heavenly Dao and mediating online dating disputes between NPCs and players.
