I Transmigrated Into a Peculiar Old Woman, and My Laid-Back Children Got Swept Up in the Craze

[Book Transmigration] [The 1980s] [Period] [Villainous Old Lady] [Family and Everyday Life] [Career]

He Mingzhen stays up all night reading a novel over the National Day holiday. When she wakes up, she discovers she has become the novel’s namesake: a vile old woman with a warped sense of right and wrong.

Though she grew up poor, this old woman is lazy and greedy.

Her motto is to eat and spend as much as she can, believing heaven will provide, and to enjoy today’s wine while it lasts.

Her husband suffered an industrial injury years ago, so she got a job “looking after” him, collecting a salary without having to go to work.

With two wage earners in the household, she thinks they’re the best of the best, and goes further and further down the road of eating, drinking, and having fun.

She constantly tells the younger generation, “Life and death are fate, wealth and honor are up to heaven.” Hard work is pointless, she says; enjoying yourself while you can is the only way.

In the end, her descendants absorb her teachings and end up with “the ailments of princesses and princes, but the lives of maids and servants.” They run out of money, take out online loans, become mistresses, and drift off to distant places, never to be heard from again…

Even on her deathbed, she refuses to see her mistakes: “I’ve burned plenty of incense and prayed to Buddha. Why won’t he protect me?”

He Mingzhen, a modern-day professional, transmigrates into the book. How could she possibly put up with this? She immediately embarks on the long road to setting things right.
