The Stone Mason

Stonecutting is a trade devoted to building tombs and erecting grave markers.

From quarrying mountains and extracting stone to carving and inscribing it, the work comes with many taboos.

Traveling from place to place to take jobs, I witness the warmth and coldness of human nature and encounter all kinds of strange and wondrous things.

Some people become demons by doing evil, while some ghosts become gods by accumulating merit.

Judge a person by the integrity of their heart; let those lacking virtue answer for their deeds.

Though I work at the lowest rung, I treat others with kindness. When I meet ghosts, I discern the loyal from the treacherous; when I meet people, I distinguish good from evil.

I use evil to subdue evil, and wield demonic power to deliver people from calamity.
