A group of humble people in the market - the homeless man Lin Fugui, the busker Zhao Xing'er, the porter Niu Ergou, the down-and-out gentleman He Sixi, the widow Ma Sanniang and the troubled official daughter Shen Luoxia, came together because of the opportunity to escape.
