At the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, the mountains and rivers were in turmoil and refugees were everywhere. The once small majority were struggling in the chaos of war: the scholar Wu Zizi, the vegetable seller Caihua, the down-and-out soldier Lu Gou Shen, the wandering scholar Shen Bantang... They were involved in one torrent of fate after another. Some use humor to fight against famine and death, some struggle with the choices of family, friendship, and love, and some show ordinary resilience amid the whirlpool of power and moral judgment. The narrative is intertwined with multiple lines and intertwined with each other. In the end, all the characters use their own light to illuminate the underlying epic in the dark and troubled world. In the midst of a broken homeland, a collapse of humanity, and warmth in adversity, they may not necessarily change the world, but they interpret salvation and growth with small and great things.
