Gu Moyuan was widely regarded as a "useless Five-Element Chaos Spirit Root" by the Gu Clan. He spent his days guarding the library, enduring scornful looks. No one knew he had awakened the Profound Insight Spirit Eyes, which let him glimpse the essential patterns governing all things. Flaws in cultivation techniques, the fusion of medicinal pills, the nodes of formations: to him, they were all as easy to read as the lines on his palm.
He made his moves from humble beginnings, guiding his family with anonymous notes and astonishing the local marketplace with perfect pills. At a minor competition, he saw through every technique at a glance, quietly rising from the dust.
Su Wantang, the favored daughter of the Flowing Cloud Merchant Alliance, wielded the Secret Art of Karma. She could peer into the threads of fate and manipulate the chessboard of worldly affairs. Amidst the vast sea of humanity, she alone saw the "uncertainty" in Gu Moyuan that transcended karma.
She offered him an alliance, part cooperation and part test. They could join hands, or play against each other.
When the "game-breaker" who sees the essence of all things meets the "player" who weaves the threads of fate, what kind of defiant legend will they create together on the Nine Heavens Continent, where spiritual resonance forms the strings and might makes right?
