Li Xianlong is trapped in a nightmare loop.
Every time, he does everything he can to escape with Murong Xue. Every time, he can only watch helplessly as she dies in his arms.
Gunshots, car crashes, falls... Seven times in all, he remembers the pain of losing her in every way.
On the thirty-first day, the loop resets. With numb despair, he sets off down the familiar road once more.
But Murong Xue gently presses down on his wrist and says something that makes his soul tremble:
"Xianlong, whenever you pass a green fire hydrant, your heartbeat speeds up by 0.3 seconds."
"Tell me, have I... died many times already?"
Only then does Li Xianlong realize that she has known everything all along. The memories they share become the first glimmer of light in the darkness.
But just as they gather their courage and try to break the shackles of fate together, the ticket inspector in the waiting room looks up and gives them a smile so perfectly ordinary that it sends chills down their spines:
"Would you two like a refill?"
It turns out they have never truly escaped its grasp.
