A Reply from Time

When Alzheimer's disease shatters the world of successful architect Su Huaijin, she faces more than the pain of being forgotten by her mother. Her own sense of purpose begins to collapse as well. The day her mother, Lin Nianzhi, mistakes her for her grandmother and entrusts her with a cloth bag embroidered with “Forget Me Not,” Su Huaijin is forced onto a journey backward through time.

Her mother is trapped on the day her father is due to return. At the heart of her memories lie a promise left unfulfilled and 49 love letters her father never sent. To communicate with her mother, Su Huaijin begins playing the role of a “messenger,” imitating her father's handwriting to write “replies.” She tries to piece together the full story of her parents' love and uncover the cruel truth behind her father's final failure to keep his promise.

This is not a story about how to fight forgetting. It is a story about understanding and accepting it, then rebuilding a new life amid the ruins of love. When all the lingering regrets and buried feelings are finally expressed in one “last reply,” mother and daughter find each other at last through the fog of memory and make peace across time.
