In Harbin in 1932, Katya, a Russian orphan girl, made a living selling paintings on the street and was taken in by Lu Zhenbang, a remnant general of the Northeastern Army. Lu Zhenbang led his troops to carry out guerrilla warfare around Harbin, and Katya used her advantage in Russian to help him contact the Soviet Union. The two warmed each other in the ice and snow, but were separated when Lu Zhenbang was ordered to move, and agreed to meet again after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.
