On a blood-red rainy night in Hongxi Village, the fangs of Jiang Chen tore through the peace of the Republic of China era.
Lin Chen transmigrated from the modern world, only to become a green-eyed zombie of the same origin as Jiang Chen. He also forged a bond of life and death with Kuang Guohua, who had witnessed the tragedy firsthand, and the orphan Fusheng. From the terrifying white-eyed zombie in Qingxi Town, to a desperate battle against a black-eyed zombie in an abandoned village, and then to inexplicable pursuits on the streets of Hong Kong, every step of their flight is fraught with deadly danger.
Behind Hong Kong's neon lights, Yamamoto Kazuo's corpse-reanimation factory conceals piles of bones. The green glow of corpse-raising talismans and the traces left by the Ma family's talismans weave a web of conspiracy. Disappearances in the old district, the stench of corpses in an abandoned factory, and the watchful eyes of mysterious figures in black: every clue points to a storm about to engulf both the living and the dead.
These zombies, “outsiders” among their own kind, refuse to become bloodthirsty monsters. Kuang Guohua struggles between his humanity and his zombie nature, all to protect Fusheng in his arms. Drawing on his foreknowledge of the plot of My Date with a Vampire, Lin Chen searches for a way to survive between Yamamoto Kazuo's henchmen and the Ma family's exorcists.
As Jiang Chen's shadow slowly emerges and the line between good and evil grows ever blurrier, can these three “family members,” who depend on one another to survive, build a haven in Hong Kong's steel jungle? In their blood, is there anything besides the power to destroy? Could it also hold the hope of rewriting their fate?
