Journey to the West: Demoted from the Start, the Buddha Begs Me to Hurry Up and Fetch the Scriptures

A Journey to the West version of “The Revenge of a Wage Slave.” Ye Chen, the fifth son of the Jing River Dragon King, was a tour guide in his past life and a minor official on Spirit Mountain. The Buddha himself demoted him to one of the Eighty-One Tribulations, but then he bound himself to the [Roadblock Sign-In System]: the longer he blocks the way, the more outrageous the rewards. Move a mountain in three days, get a Divine Flame Fan after a month, and earn a Primordial Chaos Bell after twelve years. He even comes with official immunity from death, leaving the Pilgrim with nothing to do but stare.

He writes his KPIs into Five Elements Mountain: he swindles Zhen Yuanzi at Wuzhuang Temple, swipes a gourd at Pingding Mountain, and tears up the fan contract at Flaming Mountain. Along the way, he drives Wukong into becoming a short-tempered streamer, keeps Guanyin working overtime until she goes bald, and bombards the Buddha with bad reviews.

Sixty years pass, and Tang Sanzang is still stuck on the tribulation. Ye Chen carries the Chaos Bell to the gates of Thunderclap Monastery and bangs on them: “Your delivery is sixty years late. How about a five-star review in exchange for merit?”

The order of the Three Realms is left bald after being fleeced by a lazy demon king. The delivery’s sixty years overdue. How about giving me five stars? This is a Journey to the West fanfic combining a System, endless roadblocks, and irreverent twists on the original. Watch as a cunning protagonist, an “official demon king,” throws the eastward transmission of Buddhism into chaos and rewrites the order of the Three Realms!
