The Chronicles of Great Jing

In the thirty-seventh year of the Qiyuan era of the Great Jing, smoke from border fires mingles with undercurrents at court. Shen Jinghong, burdened by his family’s blood feud, slips into the imperial capital from Jiangnan carrying a bronze tiger tally. Beneath the playful disguise of a streetwise scholar lies an unyielding resolve. Caught in the power struggle between Prince Jing’an and the Marquis of Zhenbei, he investigates the massacre that wiped out the Shen family ten years ago.

He and Su Qinghuan, a fiery-tempered female physician, go from clashing over the tiger tally to joining forces to crack a poisoning case and survive a deadly pursuit. Their love is tempered amid schemes and the flames of war. But when Shen Jinghong’s identity as a descendant of the imperial family and Su Qinghuan’s as the descendant of a physician from the previous dynasty are exposed, the two find themselves trapped between a court-ordered manhunt and the ties that bind them to those around them.
