Farming in the Heavenly Court

The day Li Tiegen ascended to immortality, the entire Southern Heaven Gate was abuzz with the Jade Emperor’s secret order: “Stop the one carrying a hoe!” The heavenly soldier on guard searched his luggage, but all he found were three bags of hybrid rice seeds. Half a year later, at the Peach Banquet, the immortals stared silently at their empty plates. The Queen Mother of the West tugged at his sleeve and whispered, “That experimental field of yours, the one yielding a hundred thousand catties per acre... can I invest in it?” Li Tiegen grinned. “You can invest in the technology, but you’ll have to pay for the pesticides with golden pills.” He turned and scattered golden fertilizer. The soil throughout the entire Heavenly Court began to glow green.
