Lin Yan, a researcher at the Modern Academy of Agricultural Sciences, traveled to the Yellow River Basin 7,000 years ago with a portable agricultural database due to abnormal geomagnetic phenomena during an inspection of agricultural sites. Since then, he has traveled to the well fields of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the fertile fields of the Qin and Han Dynasties, and the south of the Yangtze River in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. He has experienced the turmoil of the late Qing Dynasty and the construction of New China until the era of smart agriculture in the 21st century. From domesticating millet and rice, improving iron plows, to promoting hybrid rice, developing genetic breeding, and building smart agricultural systems, Lin Yan has used modern agricultural knowledge to empower farming in all eras, resolve food shortages, cope with natural disasters, and help iterate agricultural technology. This journey spanning thousands of years not only allowed him to witness the journey of Chinese farming civilization from the beginning of farming in the wilderness to the development of agriculture through science and technology, but also a "farming line" inheritance of the wisdom and perseverance of cultivators, which ultimately allowed the spirit of ancient and modern farming pioneers to perpetuate in the dialogue between time and space.
