The Ten Volumes of "The Sentences of the Lotus", said by Master Zhizhe during the Sui Dynasty and recorded by Venerable Zhang An, are the standard of Buddhist exegesis of the Tiantai Sect. This book uses the four meanings of the text (karma, covenant teaching, original traces, and contemplation of the mind) to open up the Tathagata's teachings from one generation to the next, and to highlight the full meaning of the Lotus to reveal its power and reality, and to unite the three to one. This brief explanation is based on hundreds of chapters, integrates the five periods and eight teachings, and unites one mind and three concepts. It is intended to enable readers to understand the text, gain insight into the practice, and finally enlighten and understand the Buddha's knowledge. The whole book adheres to the Tiantai family method, using three tracks to promote the sutra, four to learn about sandalwood and beneficial objects, the sixth to judge the position, and the ten to observe the mind, so that the profound meaning of the Perfect Teaching is as clear as the sun and the stars, and the key to practical cultivation is as clear as the eye.
