Standing in the clouds, Nuwa saw the plague raging in the world, famine everywhere, and the people wailing endlessly, so she called her disciple Shennong: "You will come down to earth with a hundred grass whips to relieve the people from hanging upside down."
Shennong stepped onto the auspicious clouds and came to the world, holding an ocher-colored grass whip. When he encountered grass, he whipped it, and the medicinal properties of the whip were revealed. He tasted Changchuncao to identify its poisons, chewed wild wheat to identify grains, tasted more than 360 kinds of grasses and trees, suffered 70 poisons in one day, and finally wrote "Shen Nong's Materia Medica" to point out the path to healing for the people.
There is a ferocious beast called "Gourmet Epidemic" in Nanshan, which feeds on diseases, and all living creatures wherever it passes are infected with the disease. Shen Nong used the grass whip as a sword and the energy of licorice and astragalus as a shield to fight against the plague for three days. He took the opportunity to spread herbs such as "Isatis root" and "honeysuckle" into the world. The medicinal gas turned into a clear light to drive away the plague, and finally sealed the plague under the volcano with the essence of "Ganoderma lucidum".
After that, Shen Nong taught the people farming and medicinal techniques, and gradually smoke curled up from cooking stoves, and there was no longer the suffering of famine and epidemics.
