The prosperous Tang Dynasty in Chang'an was characterized by rice dripping with fat and colorful clothes and feathers; the prosperous Tang Dynasty in Hebei was filled with hungry people and tax collectors like wolves.
Liu An, a seventeen-year-old butcher, has been practicing sword-wielding for three years and has a body of copper and iron. He originally wanted to guard the butcher shop to protect his younger brother who was studying, but his livelihood was kicked to pieces by the tax collector - "Does a scholar from a butcher's family deserve to get ahead?"
Unable to endure it, he took up the butcher's knife and surrendered to Fan Yang. He was shocked to see that the Tang army was equipped as luxuriously as elite soldiers, and the military pay was enough to feed and clothe the whole family. The bloody battle on the Great Wall killed the Khitan, and his armor was stained with blood in exchange for military honors. From a corps commander to a general, he wanted to use his knife to open a butcher's counterattack path in this divided prosperous Tang Dynasty:
"The prosperous age of Chang'an has nothing to do with me. What I want is the prosperous Tang Dynasty that allows the people of Hebei to survive!"
