The Netherworld Pawnshop: My Years as a Judge

On the surface, he is the manager of a pawnshop. In truth, he is the last heir of an ancient lineage of judges of the dead. When he inherited the shop, his master had planted the Seven Sorrows Curse in him. To gradually unlock his powers and break the curse, he must collect the world's seven most intense emotions: joy, anger, worry, thought, grief, fear, and shock.

The pawnshop accepts no money, trading only in intangible things, and receives just one "destined customer" at a time. Anyone who isn't part of a transaction cannot see the shop. Those who try to spy on it are burdened with "karmic debts" and beset by misfortune. The shop's "offers" are not absolutely fair; it always leans toward acquiring something of greater value, testing each customer's greed and desperation. Once the contract is signed and sealed, there is no backing out.

On the surface, he is a lazy, indifferent businessman. In truth, he holds fast to one principle: never cut short a person's cycle of reincarnation. He navigates the gray areas of the rules, acting both as their enforcer and as someone who finds ways to work around them.
