"Old House Zhenglang" takes the inheritance process of "Laoweizhai", a century-old Tianjin cuisine restaurant, as the main line, and outlines an intangible inheritance picture that spans the century, connects both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and goes global. The story begins during the Republic of China. Mr. Miao Zhenshan founded Laoweizhai and established its foundation with "real ingredients and honest management." Later, Miao Xiuying persisted for decades, exploring Tianjin cuisine skills and promoting cross-border and internationalization, allowing this small restaurant on Guayi Street in Tianjin to gradually gain a foothold.
With the tide of the times, Laoweizhai has entered a critical period for its inheritance. The price of global food ingredients has soared, young consumers are tired of aesthetics, and Internet celebrity brands are imitating and diverting customer groups. The century-old store is facing unprecedented challenges. In this context, the new generation of inheritors with Zhou Lei as the core took over the baton, keeping in mind the 24-character family motto established by Miao Xiuying: "Ingenuity preserves taste, integrity inherits the family; tastes come from the same source, the fire is endless; integrity and innovation, the family and the country are united", and opened the way to break through the integrity and innovation.
The team divided into three ways to solve the dilemma: Chen Bin optimized the global supply chain, established an exclusive food base and a cross-strait logistics line, and adhered to quality while controlling costs; Miao Siting led product and experience upgrades, launching Jinwei blind boxes and VR interactive experience areas, and jointly Dong Guofeng Games created co-branded packages to accurately capture young customers; Zhang Hao and Taiwanese inheritor Chen Jiaming took the lead in innovation and developed new Tianjin dishes such as tea-flavored Lao Bao San and Cross-Strait Reunion Ice Noodles, which not only retain the core skills, but also incorporate health concepts and regional characteristics.
