A hundred years ago, the “Twilight of the Gods,” a great war of unknown cause, broke out. Nearly all the surviving righteous and evil gods perished or fell into the deepest slumber, no longer answering prayers. The church system collapsed, occult knowledge scattered, and the world's order descended into chaos.
The highest powers in the world are held by the demigods of the great churches, secret organizations, and royal nobles. They are Sequence 4 or higher, but the paths to true godhood at Sequence 0 and above are vacant or blocked. They maintain a fragile balance among themselves while secretly seeking a chance to ascend to the divine throne.
With the gods fallen silent, “strange phenomena” have multiplied rapidly around the world. These include rule-bound supernatural tales that defy common sense, warped rifts in space and time, and collections of maddened ancient grudges. They are more dangerous than supernatural creatures.
In recent decades, people from different eras and countries on Earth have been randomly “cast” into this world.
After his soul transmigrates, the protagonist is robbed by pirates and forced to join them, a minor figure with no say in the matter. Once he embarks on the path to the supernatural, he unexpectedly discovers that he can sense the presence of other transmigrators within a thousand-mile radius. Through a special means, he can contact them, but can only send text messages.
The story follows the protagonist as he rises above the rest through cooperation, exploitation, and betrayal among the many transmigrators, becoming Pirate King and then a true god once more.
But when he takes the final step, he discovers that it has all been a conspiracy, and he faces a cruel choice…
