After the autumn harvest, the people of Jizhou celebrated the harvest. In gratitude for Lin Wan's leadership in fighting locusts and teaching farming techniques, they spontaneously petitioned the imperial court to confer the title of "Goddess of Agriculture". Lin Wan declined at first, but later agreed to live up to his trust. The imperial court approved the request, granted him a title, built a "Shrine of the God of Agriculture", and invited him to join the court as a "judge of the Farming Academy". However, Lin Wan refused the high position and chose to stay in Jizhou to be close to the people. After the "God of Agriculture Temple" was built, people worshiped and prayed for blessings. Lin Wan emphasized that the "God of Agriculture" is the people and nature. Later, when the south of the Yangtze River was flooded, Lin Wan, Shen Yansheng, Ah Huang and others went to support him and continued to protect the green fields. His spirit became a symbol of farming protection and inspired people to cultivate their homes.
