I’ll Spend the Rest of My Life Mourning You

My name is Shen Zhiwei. I used to be an intern who slept her way to the top, until I met Lu Zhian, CCTV’s star producer. He pulled me out of the mess of being a mistress and taught me to wield a pen like a sword, becoming a true journalist.

When I betrayed him for fame and fortune and moved abroad with my photographer husband, he said behind me, “In the end, your journalistic ideals lost to the pursuit of clicks.”

I became notorious overseas. My husband cheated, and my career fell apart. Then a call from across the ocean brought news that Lu was critically ill. “Shen Zhiwei, I taught you how to do your first story. Now come do my last.”

I knelt before his grave and vowed to reclaim everything we had lost. Ten years later, I stood at the summit of a media empire, known to everyone as the Queen of Journalism.

But every night, I whisper to the interview notes he left behind:

“Teacher, is my lens clean enough this time?”
