Records of the Taiping Emperor

She dreams that she dies by a three-foot length of white silk. After waking, Princess Taiping of the Tang dynasty vows to sever the fate that awaits her! “Wan'er, help me. If a man can sit on this dragon throne, so can we.” Shangguan Wan'er clasps her hand and meets her gaze. “Wherever Your Highness points her sword, Wan'er's brush shall follow.” From then on, she wields her sword to clear the way, while Wan'er writes to establish a new order. This is the rise of an empress, and an unforgettable ode to kindred spirits: “May we live a thousand years, our praises sung like pepper blossoms.” When I finally ascend the throne, I will share this magnificent realm with you.
