During the Anti-Japanese War, the Japanese army ravaged northern Jiangsu. Military encirclement and economic blockade put the anti-Japanese base areas in dire straits. Patriot Zhou Xinghan responded to the call of the Party and the New Fourth Army and stepped forward. With his extraordinary wisdom and courage, he set up industry and commerce to revitalize the economy of the base area, while risking his own life to purchase military and civilian supplies, building an indestructible "supply defense line" on both sides of the Salt River, and leading the people of northern Jiangsu to write a heroic song of protecting their homeland and country in desperate situations with blood and tenacity.
