Others who traveled through Journey to the West would either become gods or monsters, but I was better off. As soon as I opened my eyes, I rushed directly into the Royal Horse Prison and became the "chicken colleague" under Bi Mawen who competed with the horses for feed every day!
In order to win tickets to the Peach Fair, I glued horse hair into a monkey tail to pretend to be a monkey; I was caught stealing wine in the Yaochi, and I drunkenly beat Xian'e with a wine jar in my mouth; I was present during the whole havoc in the Heavenly Palace, performing a "chicken flying and monkey jumping" to join in the fun, and I even accompanied Sun Wukong under the Five Elements Mountain to share rice chaff for three years.
When Tang Monk formed a team to learn scriptures, I became the "food supervisor" based on my strength: I pecked Tang Monk's bald hat, played tug-of-war with Bajie to win corns, snatched Sha Monk's staff as a chicken coop pole, and even bit the tail of the white dragon horse to force me to admit my mistakes. I never hesitate when meeting monsters. I either crawl into the monster's belly and peck out its internal organs, or peck out the mask of a white-bone spirit. Even the feathers of the big roc are gathered up to make shuttlecocks. I am not afraid to meet the Bodhisattva. I rub against the lotus seat of Guanyin, grab the Maitreya Buddha's cloth bag to use as a chicken coop, and even recognize the Pleiades star official as a "relative in the chicken world."
After taking the sutra, he became even more crazy: he disliked the Jade Emperor's "Chicken Fairy" for not being accepted by the officials, so he went back to Lingshan and pecked Anuo's bald head and pretended to be a bag, forcing the Tathagata to give me the "Supreme Chicken Realm".
From the ordinary chicken in the Royal Horse Prison to the "fighting and victorious chicken" that disrupted the three realms, my daily journey to the West is just one word: crazy! Following Wukong into the Heavenly Palace, eating dumplings with Bajie, helping Sha Monk clear the sand river, and taking care of trivial matters in the chicken world. Such lively days, I would be happy to be crazy for another 500 years!
