Yuan Hong, a delivery rider racing around the bustling city, spends every day riding an electric scooter with tires worn nearly smooth, saving up for a down payment on an apartment and living an ordinary, hectic life. Then, one midnight, he gets a bizarre delivery order addressed to an abandoned shipyard on the outskirts of town. The note reads, “July 15: the seawater will swallow everything,” and a mechanical doomsday warning over the phone shatters his peace for good.
Even stranger, after the warning, Yuan Hong awakens an “Infinite Storage” ability in his right hand. A pale blue ring of light appears in his palm, like a warehouse stretching on without end, able to store all kinds of items with ease and sense their exact locations. His fear and doubt fade after a mysterious voice confirms once again that he must “use this ability to survive.” Yuan Hong chooses to believe the doomsday prophecy.
He takes the 50,000 yuan he saved over three years and frantically buys survival supplies: compressed biscuits, canned food, tents, first-aid kits, and more. He stores them all with his Infinite Storage ability, quits his delivery job, and repeatedly studies the map before finally choosing the city’s TV tower, over 300 meters tall and built with a sturdy structure, as his shelter. His coworkers’ doubts and the loneliness of being understood by no one fail to stop him from preparing for the apocalypse.
As July 15 draws closer, the rain keeps falling over the city, as if heralding disaster. Yuan Hong clenches the hand that conceals his Infinite Storage space. It holds a trove of survival supplies, as well as his hope of finding a sliver of life amid the apocalyptic tsunami. This life-or-death struggle for survival is about to begin in earnest as raging seawater engulfs the city.
