"The Scream" is one of Lu Xun's most famous short story collections. The collected works truly depict the social life from the Revolution of 1911 to the May 4th Movement. Starting from revolutionary democracy, with the purpose of Enlightenment and the spirit of humanitarianism, they reveal various deep-seated social contradictions, conduct a profound analysis and relatively complete negation of the old Chinese system and some outdated traditional concepts, and show a strong sense of worry for the survival of the nation and a strong hope for social change.
