I Judge the World with Words

When Lin Feng, a star mediator at the civil affairs bureau, discovers that he can use his “silver tongue” to reshape reality, he puts his power to work reconciling bickering couples and getting relatives fighting over inheritances to make peace. That is, until he witnesses a wealthy man jump from a rooftop in his sleep. “This wasn’t an accident!” Lin Feng declares, slamming the table, only for the icy policewoman Su Wan to name him her prime suspect. Worse still, he discovers that his uncle’s bizarre death twenty years earlier bears an uncanny resemblance to this case. To get to the truth, the two unwilling partners are forced to join forces. They venture into rule-based horror stories created by men in black robes, dodging falling bookshelves in a library and protecting a roadside barbecue vendor who uses recycled gutter oil. Lin Feng complains even as he spits blood: “Could you villains pick a different place to fight? I just bought these shoes!” When Su Wan’s father’s identity is revealed and the “Sacred Relic of Word Magic” reappears in the world, Lin Feng realizes he has long been caught up in a high-stakes gamble over the fate of the world. Raising his civil affairs bureau ID, he gives the mastermind one final ultimatum: “Under Article 37 of the Mediation Law for Civil Disputes, I hereby formally take on this world’s case. Either sit down and talk it out, or I’ll talk you into questioning your sanity!” One-line recommendation: When the civil affairs bureau starts handling supernatural cases, the ultimate master of persuasion shows you how to save the world with legal statutes!
