Pokemon: My Tactics Are Worthless

I’m A Yu, and I set out from Viridian City, right next to Pallet Town, on the same day as Ash.

He takes the destined Pikachu, while I get the leftover Poliwag nobody else wanted.

He meets Ho-Oh from the start, while a Rattata steals my lunch from the start.

He overcomes danger with love and courage, while I use rocks, bells, and mud-slinging tactics to batter my way through Gym doors.

We travel together, but our journeys couldn’t have more different styles.

While Ash is still yelling, “Dodge it!”, my Poliwhirl has already learned “Mind Reader.”

When Team Rocket blasts off, shouting, “Looks like Team Rocket’s blasting off again!”, I send them on their way using the most cost-effective method.

This is a strictly humble, down-to-earth Trainer’s journey. No lucky encounters, only careful planning; no handouts, only hard work.

In my own way, I accompany and witness the legend of that passionate young boy, while writing my own: an ordinary epic.
