A Heartbeat Can't Be Cured

Her name was Shen Yunge, twenty-eight years old, and the leader of an underground organization. A master's graduate from a prestigious university, she was ruthless and decisive, with no hesitation when it came to killing. Yet when alone, she liked listening to classical music and would study medical podcasts late into the night. Her name was Su Nian, twenty-one years old, a third-year medical student. She ranked first in her year in anatomy, with hands so steady her professor could use her as a teaching demonstration. Socially anxious and emotionally slow to catch on, she couldn't tell the difference between a racing heart and an arrhythmia. At 2:17 a.m., someone knocked on the door. A blood-soaked woman was carried into Su Nian's rented apartment. From then on, their two worlds were forcibly stitched together A woman accustomed to bloodshed found her heart thoroughly dissected by the person who saved her with a scalpel. “Su Nian, I'll remember that.” “Shen Yunge, do you remember what I told you? I can't tell the difference between a racing heart and an arrhythmia. Later, I looked it up. Arrhythmia can be treated with medication. A racing heart can't be cured.”
