Ghost Doctor and Sword: The Gourmet’s Apotheosis is a long fantasy novel blending miracle medicine, sword cultivation, a villain and his symbiotic counterpart, and an unconventional apotheosis saga. Centered on the growth of the ghost doctor Bai Mo, it creates a new world of deification where “the Way of Medicine proves immortality, and the sword shatters Heaven’s will.”
Bai Mo was a mysterious physician by the River of the Underworld, able to bring the dead back to life with the Treatise on the Green Satchel and Corpse Liberation. But during one treatment, he discovers that he is actually an “Evil God vessel” forged by the Primordial Heavenly Venerable, with the ancient evil god Taotie sealed inside him. As the seal weakens, he is forced onto the path of the “Swordbearer of Deification.” He must gather the scattered fragments of the Investiture of the Gods and awaken the Eight Divine Generals while balancing the conflict between the “miracle doctor who saves lives” and the “evil god that devours his heart.” He must also face his fated relationship with the sword cultivator Shen Yanbing, Host to the Spirit of the Immortal-Slaying Sword, as they go from understanding one another to becoming adversaries.
Across five volumes, the story unfolds step by step: from the mystery surrounding Bai Mo’s identity in Ghost Doctor Valley, to the rebirth of the deification saga on Mount Buzhou, and then to the revelation of the Primordial Heavenly Venerable’s hidden scheme in the Underworld. It ends with Bai Mo rewriting the Investiture of the Gods by “making himself the medicine and using his sword to defy the Way,” creating the Great Way of the Medicine King. The core worldbuilding breaks with the traditional rigid hierarchy of deification and introduces a distinctive three-part story structure of “medical cases, battles, and mysteries.” Three signature elements, the “dual System of miracle medicine and sword cultivation,” “evil-god symbiosis between Bai Mo and Taotie,” and “medicine cultivators refining pills by using their own bodies as cauldrons,” tie together the interlocking foreshadowing across 500 chapters, creating a subversive fantasy saga about “a physician who takes up the sword to defy Heaven and become a god.”
The protagonist should be the reincarnation of Hua Tuo. During the Jian'an period, Hua Tuo was killed by Cao Cao. A ray of true spirit is immortal and wanders in the world. After learning that "The Book of Green Bags" has become a corpse interpretation book, the protagonist is reborn and begins a magnificent and passionate career in the world.
