"The Ghost Doctor and the Sword: Taotie's Legend of the Gods" is a long fantasy novel that combines the elements of a miracle doctor, a swordsman, a villain's symbiosis and an anti-routine to become a god. Taking the growth of the ghost doctor Bai Mo as the main line, it builds a new universe of "the god of medicine and the sword of heaven".
Bai Mo was originally a mysterious doctor by the Netherworld River. He was able to bring the dead back to life with the "Qing Sang Corpse Interpretation Sutra", but during a treatment, he discovered that he was actually the "Evil God Container" cast by Yuanshi Tianzun, and the ancient evil god Taotie was sealed in his body. As the seal loosened, he was forced to embark on the road of becoming a "sword bearer" - he needed to collect the fragments of the list of gods and awaken the eight righteous gods, while balancing the contradiction between "miraculous doctors saving people" and "evil gods eating hearts" in his body. He also had to face the fateful entanglement with sword cultivator Shen Yanbing (host of the sword spirit of the Zhuxian Sword) from acquaintance to opposition.
The story progresses through five volumes: from the mystery of identity in the Ghost Doctor Valley, to the restart of the Gods in Buzhou Mountain, to the revelation of Yuanshi Tianzun's behind-the-scenes conspiracy in the underworld, and finally ends with Bai Mo rewriting the list of Gods by "using his body as medicine and using his sword to go against the Tao", creating the "Medicine King's Way". The core setting breaks the traditional solidification of the class of gods, and creates an original three-stage plot structure of "medical cases-combat-puzzle solving". It uses the three major features of "twin system (miraculous doctor/sword cultivator)", "evil god symbiosis (white ink/taotie)" and "medicine cultivation of elixir (using the body as a tripod)". It connects 500 interlocking chapters of foreshadowing, creating a subversive fantasy story in which "a doctor holds a sword and defies the heaven to become a god".
