Wei Dahai is a single father with an intellectual disability, raising his seven-year-old daughter, Wei You’an, on his meager wages as a sanitation worker.
You’an and her father have only each other.
Then one day, You’an’s biological mother suddenly appears, disrupting their peaceful, loving life.
Wei Dahai is terminally ill, but he hides his condition from everyone. He doesn’t know that they all know he doesn’t have long to live. They just pretend not to know and keep playing along, helping him act out the final chapter of his life.
After Wei Dahai passes away, You’an is devastated. She takes her father’s photo with her to her high school entrance exam,
and visits his grave around the time of her college entrance exams. In the end, she gets into Beijing Medical University,
graduates, and becomes a doctor. She grows up to be a useful member of society.
You’an never let her father down.
There is nowhere to send her longing, and tears fall as soon as she looks up.
Thank goodness longing makes no sound. Otherwise, it would be deafening...
This is a very unpopular novel about a nanny. To be honest, when I first saw this novel, I felt it was boring. But after thinking about it, I decided to read it further. The more I read, I realized that although the plot was not very exciting and there were not many scenes, I could feel the father's love for his daughter. I think this is okay.
